Your local authority will decide if you are eligible for help. They work out an amount of money for you to spend on any care or support you need. Your needs will be assessed and a personal budget will be calculated.
Your Personal Budget can be used in 3 ways -
- Direct Payment – payments are paid directly into an account of your choice, and you then pay your carers via the Curam Platform accordingly.
- Your local authority can manage an account – they will be responsible for arranging your care, as long as you are happy with the choices.
- A third party can manage an account – a care agency, for instance, will arrange and manage your payments although there will most certainly be a charge for this service.
